I have been sadly neglecting my blog in recent weeks. Unfortunately, I do not have much time to devote to hobbies for the next month, and the attempt to take up a new hobby is the first thing to go when trying to find more time in the day.  BIG sad face.

Why the neglect? There are a number of reasons:

1. I am new to wordpress and do not understand the ins and outs yet.

2. I am still learning to use my camera.

3. I am a perfectionist and I do not like to do things wrong/half-ass/not up to the standards I have set in my head.  (I think they call this perfectionist paralysis.)

4.  Marathon training has been kicking my bum, but in a good way!

5. I am studying for the LSAT — this is a major, anxiety-inducing time suck.

6.  I am in the midst of applying to new jobs and figuring out my life. More anxiety.

7. We are in the process of taking care of some house issues in my group house, so that’s another time-stealer.

wouldn’t ya say there are enough reasons for me to neglect my bloggy?

Well, yes and no.  Yes, because LSAT study needs to take priority over all!! However, as a point of personal development, I do want to combat perfectionist paralysis.  One way to do that is to allow myself to simply blog here and there, even if I am not giving it my full attention.  I am coming into this as a long-time reader of many amazing bloggers.  In my mind, I want my blog to be on par with their blogs RIGHT NOW.  Yet, I am forgetting that they have been writing their blogs and developing their blog presences for at least a year, several of them for years. These things take time. It is foolish for me to expect myself to be at that level in my first few posts.  I need to chill out and take things one step at a time.

So, rather than wait until I know everything at blogging (which would be never!),  I am going to allow myself to blog sporadically for the next month, only as a relief from intense studying.  I’m going to make an effort to learn one thing new about blogging each time I post.  I think that is a reasonable approach, don’t you think?

P.S. 3 more hours until I am out of the office for 11 days.  Woohoo!!!

I’m in Boston!

Bear with me as a new blogger.  I have no idea what I am doing, but I love the challenge that learning how to use WordPress gives me.  Learning about nutrition and running have been hobbies of mine for years now, so I figured I might as well step it up and notch and throw some technology into the mix.  Of course, I know that finally stepping into the blogging world in 2009 does not exactly make me on the cutting edge, but hey, it’s all new to me!

This morning,  I arrived in Boston, where I will be attending the Healthy Living Summit, put together by six amazing bloggers whose blogs I’ve been reading for what seems like forever – most of them since their very first posts!  And yet, I’ve never started my own blog.  What gives??? Sadly, I think it has been the technology barrier.  I am like a fish out of water when it comes to computer programs I don’t know.  But, I’m putting an end to that!  Hopefully, the HLS will be just the inspiration and source of information that I need.  I am eager to meet all of the bloggers who are coming together tonight to celebrate all things involving good eats, running, and blogging.  I am off to put in a good workout and then do some exploring around Boston before heading to the super-special HLS cocktail party.  Woohoo!

I wanna be a blogger!

Not quite a superstar, but being a blogger could be fun enough.  I made a valiant attempt at this months ago on blogger, but the platform there wasn’t doing it for me.  Instead, I’m jumping on the wordpress wagon.  I don’t know how to use it at all yet, but I’m eager to learn a new thing or two while I create this little corner of the interwebs for myself.  Here goes nothing!
